Abta trio recognised in Women in Trade Associations Powerlist 2025

Three Abta employees have been named on the Women in Trade Associations Powerlist 2025.

The list, was unveiled today ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8 and recognises those in trade associations who champion their sectors, support colleagues and deliver for their members.

Abta’s head of destinations Angie Hills, head of financial protection Lisa Kingman and senior solicitor Paula Macfarlane are among those recognised this year.

Hills, who featured on the powerlist last year and also recently received an MBE in the King’s New Year honours list, has supported members for more than 20 years in destination health, safety and security.

She said: “At Abta, we work hard to support our members through the ever-changing landscape of travel, and being named on the powerlist is a wonderful endorsement of our work to support our members not just during a crisis, but with other important aspects of their business including health, safety and security to support British travellers.”

Kingman has helped members find cost-effective solutions for their businesses and led initiatives to make financial protection processes more flexible and simplified for members.

“Being included in this powerlist is a real honour,” she said.

“Financial protection is a fundamental part of ensuring trust in the travel industry and I’m proud to work alongside a dedicated team at Abta to support our members to get the right arrangements that suit their businesses.”

Macfarlane has provided legal guidance to Abta members for more than 24 years and manages its Code of Conduct, alongside advocating for members in policy and regulation, including the Package Travel Regulations review and Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act.

She said: “It’s a privilege to be included in this year’s powerlist. My role at Abta allows me to work on some of the most important regulatory and legal matters facing the travel industry, helping members understand what they mean for them and their customers.”
