Classic Collection’s Andrew Farr steps down after two decades

Classic Collection’s head of PR, Andrew Farr, has stepped down after more than two decades with the B2B operator.

His travel career spans 36 years in travel – with previous stints at Thomson Holidays and the Panorama Holiday Group – and he joined Classic Collection in January 2005.

Farr said: “I’m hugely honoured to have worked alongside some fabulous colleagues at Classic Collection who were instrumental in winning more than 70 travel industry accolades, including no fewer than four Travel Weekly Globe Awards.

“Classic Collection has always championed travel trade partners, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to have been instrumental in amplifying the voice of one the few genuinely agent-focussed operators out there.”

Farr has hosted 192 travel agent events and more than 45 fam trips and overseas travel conferences during his time with the operator, most recently sharing hosting duties at overseas conferences for InteleTravel in Malaga and Sorrento with Clia UK & Ireland’s managing director, Andy Harmer.

Farr added: “From a mad-cap game of Play Your Cards Right in the state dining room of The Royal Yacht Britannia to joining The Three Tenors as a guest vocalist during an Italy brochure launch trip to Sorrento, there have been some surprising highlights along the way.

“Having met some tremendously companionable travel agent and hotelier partners over the years, business relationships have blossomed into enduring friendships, and that’s a wonderful takeaway from the job.

“In terms of what comes next, a short break is definitely on the cards before looking at what opportunities are available for a travel PR with more years of experience under his belt than he cares to acknowledge.”
