Latin American Travel Association expands with two new roles

The Latin American Travel Association has expanded its team with two newly created roles to help promote travel to the region.

Mitchell Hawes has joined as Lata’s business development manager, tasked with expanding the membership and strengthening the relationships with the current members.

He was previously the UK and Ireland sales manager at Norwegian Airlines, launching the Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro routes.

Rachel Nicoll joins the Lata Foundation as its first paid employee. The foundation was set up by Lata to support social and environmental projects throughout Latin America.

She started her career working in the Latin American sales and product teams at Cox & Kings, and then ITC Travel Group and cazenove+loyd.

Her previous role was at the Charities Aid Foundation meaning this role will combine a love of the destination with her expertise in charity work.

Danny Callaghan, Lata chief executive, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Mitchell back into the Latin American travel community, not only expanding our Lata team but to also grow the wider community.

“His knowledge and connections will be invaluable in strengthening the association as we strive to represent an ever-growing community of travel businesses passionate about Latin America.

“The creation of the new fundraiser role for the Lata Foundation is a fantastic progression for the organisation, which has until now been run solely by volunteers.
“I know Rachel will be a fantastic asset to the team and I look forward to seeing the organisation develop.”
